You can restore client data, customized documents (like elections, transmittal letters, filing instructions, and invoices), system settings (like preparer, reviewer, and staff member information), product settings (like miscellaneous setup options, custom statements, and invoice pricing), or data mining information (like custom searches, reports, and letters) that you previously backed up to an external storage device, a backup location, or FileCabinet CS (if licensed). Take these actions to accomplish that.
Put the external storage device into the computer if data is backed up.
Select File > Restore.
Recall that UltraTax remote access CS searches drive C for items by default. The Clients Not Found window appears if the data you want to recover isn't on drive C. To change the backup location, choose the option for the item you wish to restore, select the proper drive and path, and then click Continue.
To recover the data, choose the proper location (if there are multiple data locations).
From the drop-down menu in the top-left corner, choose Clients, Documents, System settings, Product settings, or Data Mining.
To transfer objects to the right pane, choose the items in the left pane that you wish to restore, and then click the Select or Select All option.
Note: To recover things from FileCabinet CS, click the appropriate boxes in the Focus group box for either the Clients with backups in FileCabinet CS or the System backups in FileCabinet CS.
Follow the first external storage device instructions if you're looking for a specific item across multiple devices. Insert the second device and hit the Refresh button if the thing isn't on it. To reconstruct the list, UltraTax cloud hosting services will examine the second device for the item to restore.
The type of item you are restoring will affect the options that are presented in the Focus group box.
The steps below will help you repair and rebuild the client list if you need to recover data that was not backed up using File > Backup in UltraTax CS (for instance, the data was copied within Windows Explorer).
Right-click your computer's Start button and choose Explore.
Go to the X: WinCSIUTYYData folder (where X is the drive where you store your UltraTax CS data and YY is the application version).
The client data file into the space above by copying and pasting it.
Get rid of Windows Explorer.
Select Help > Repair > Rebuild Client List when UltraTax CS is open.
